阿部 沙央里（社会福祉学科2 年）“Visiting St. Andrew’s Elementary School”9 月15 日はバース市内にあるSt.Andrew’s Elementary School を訪問しました。イギリスの子どもたちに日本の文化を伝え、交流することが目的です。はじめに、クラスに入って折り紙を教えました。初めて折り紙を見た子も多かったのですが、折り紙を見たことがある子、折り紙をしたことがある子もいて日本の文化が海外にも伝わっているのを見てとても嬉しかったです。事前にスチュアートが「子どもたちに教えるのは作るのが簡単なものがいいよ」と言っていたので、何を教えようか悩みました。私は、風車なら子どもたちでもできるかなと思って、風車の折り方を教えたのですが、イギリスの子どもたちには難しすぎたようで、出来ない！分からない！折ってほしい！と子どもたちに怒られてしまいました。そのあとは講堂に集まって日本の童謡である「ぞうさん」と「大きな栗の木の下で」の2 曲を披露しました。「大きな栗の木の下で」は、イギリスの伝統的な民謡で子どもたちもよく知っていました。最後には、県大生が日本語で、子どもたちが英語で一緒に歌うことが出来てとても楽しい時間を過ごせました。On September 15, we went to St. Andrew’s Elementary school to teach Japanese culture and interactwith their students.Firstly, we taught origami. I was grad because they told me “I have done origami before.” But it wasnot easy for them. Almost all of the students gave up on making an origami.After that, we sang 2 songs: “Under the spreading chestnut tree” is a traditional British folk song, sothe FPU students sang it in Japanese and the St. Andrew’s Elementary school students sang it inEnglish. And then, finally, we tried to sing it together, in both languages. I will never forget thiswonderful and very moving experience. Thank you.34
