Yukiko OGATA (Associate Professor)

BA in nursing (Occupational Health University, Fukuoka, 1986)
MA in education (Bukkyo Uiversity, Kyoto, 2000)
PhD in health science (Hiroshima University, Hiroshima, 2004)

Yukiko Ogata was born in Fukuoka Prefecture in 1961. Initially, it was her dream to be a junior high school teacher. However, she changed her mind and entered the Faculty of Nursing at Occupational Health University. She then attended Bukkyo University to learn about education. At that time she became interested in the care system for the elderly. Since graduating from Hiroshima University with a PhD in health science in 2004, she has been working as an associate professor at Fukuoka Prefectural University.

Academic Interests
  • A self-efficacy evaluation index for elderly people participating in preventive care programs.
  • The development of a supporting activity model for public health nurses:
    Public health nurses working in communities typically try to develop preventive care systems for the elderly. I am currently developing a supporting activity model for such nurses so that they can make sense of what they are doing and be sufficiently empowered to continue working in their respective fields.
