BA in Comparative Religions (Kyushu University, 1978);

MA in Sociology (Kyushu University, 1980).



Professor Tetsuya Tanaka has a great interest in Islamic culture and has visited Egypt several times. He recently returned from a one-year sabbatical in the country where he worked as the director of the Cairo Center of the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (see pictures below).
